Poole College Names Steve Allen as Interim Associate Dean of Academic Programs

NC State University’s Poole College of Management announces the appointment of Steve Allen as the interim associate dean of academic programs effective July 1. Allen is a professor of economics and previously served as the associate dean of graduate programs.

As the interim associate dean, Allen will be a core member of the Poole College senior leadership team and oversee the college’s academic programs, including undergraduate programs, Jenkins MBA, Jenkins Master of Accounting, Master of Management (Global Luxury) and Graduate Economics Programs. He will lead the strategic planning processes, work closely with the Executive Team to create new programs and update criteria, and will frequently represent the college in academic matters across the university.

“Our graduate programs have risen in national prominence during Dr. Allen’s leadership as associate dean of graduate programs,” said Frank Buckless, Stephen P. Zelnak Jr. Dean of Poole College. “I look forward to working with Dr. Allen in his new expanded role of leading both undergraduate and graduate programs.”

The associate dean of academic programs role integrates the previous positions of the associate dean for undergraduate programs and the associate dean for graduate programs. An assistant dean for undergraduate programs will report to Allen to help manage programs college-wide.

Allen received his doctorate in economics from Harvard University in 1978 and his areas of expertise include labor economics, collective bargaining and human resource management.
