NC State Poole College Names Sebastian Heese as Business Management Department Head

NC State Poole College of Management announces Sebastian Heese, Owens Distinguished professor of supply chain management, as the business management department head effective July 1. Heese has been with Poole College since 2016 and served as interim department head since 2018.

“Dr. Heese as a faculty member has been a leader in bridging our college with others across the campus, and I look forward to working with him to elevate our college through interdisciplinary partnerships across campus,” said Frank Buckless, Stephen P. Zelnak Jr. Dean of Poole College. 

As department head, Heese will be the academic leader and administrative officer that will lead faculty and staff in enhancing undergraduate and graduate programs as well as outreach activities. The department of business management is divided into four discipline-specific groups of faculty: finance, information technology and analytics, marketing, and operations and supply chain management.

Heese is the first faculty member to hold the Owens Distinguished Professorship of supply chain management. Before joining Poole College, Heese served as the dean of EBS Business School in Wiesbaden, Germany. His research has been featured in academic journals  such as Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, and the Journal of Operational Management..

Heese received his doctorate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
