Poole College of Management Announces Kate Zearing as Director of Development

Belltower

Kate Zearing has been named the new director of development of the Poole College of Management Development and External Relations team. Zearing is replacing Peyton Stokely who previously served in this position.

In her role as director of development, Zearing will build relationships with alumni and friends of Poole College and connect donors with meaningful opportunities for impact through their philanthropy. She is responsible for cultivating, soliciting and stewarding philanthropic gifts by helping match donor passions with institutional priorities.

“Kate brings a great deal of experience to our fundraising team,” said Brian Clark, executive director of development and external relations. “She is passionate about helping donors find their philanthropic goals that create a meaningful impact for students and faculty. Kate’s work will help our team facilitate more resources to achieve our mission in the Poole College.”

Prior to coming to Poole College, Zearing has been in development full-time since 2013, initially for a social services nonprofit agency and then with Indiana University from 2014 to 2021. Her most recent position was director of development for the Maurer School of Law.

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to support its work, mission and values as well as the land-grant mission of NC State more broadly through this role building relationships with alumni and friends.

“There is so much exciting growth and innovation happening at Poole College,” said Zearing. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to support its work, mission and values as well as the land-grant mission of NC State more broadly through this role building relationships with alumni and friends. I am also originally from North Carolina and delighted to return to my home state to serve the College.”

Outside of work, Zearing enjoys hiking and being outdoors, exercising, and cooking. She is looking forward to exploring Raleigh and other parts of North Carolina in the months ahead.
