Poole College Celebrates Faculty and Staff Accomplishments from Summer 2021

The monthly accomplishments series celebrates the achievements of our faculty and staff in and outside of the Poole College of Management.

Sarah Khan, teaching associate professor of information technology and business analytics, was selected for DELTA’s fall 2021 Quality Matters Essential Standards Program on June 4.
On June 16, Jessica Yinka Thomas, director of the Business Sustainability Collaborative, co-hosted the 2021 B Academics Teaching Roundtable on “Teaching Business as a Force for Good”. Thomas also represented as the president for B Academics on a panel for B Impact Teams which serve their local community by assessing social and environmental metrics of community businesses using the B Impact Assessment.

Heidi Echols, instructional designer, and Alissa Dodds, academic advisor, became NC State Employee Wellness Champions this summer.
Patrick Flynn, assistant professor of human resource management, presented “Will they Stay or will they Go: Collective Engagement and Turnover Volatility during the Pandemic” at the 2021 Academy of Management Annual Meeting from July 29 to Aug.4. Flynn also presented “Impression Management and Group Member Performance: Examining the Role of Collective Altruism” alongside Bradley Kirkman, professor of leadership, and Jeffrey Pollack, associate professor of entrepreneurship.
On July 28, Sarah Khan, teaching associate professor of information technology and business analytics, was announced as a recipient of the DELTA Faculty Fellows Grant Award for the 2021-22 academic year. Earlier in July, Khan was also selected to be on the Dean’s Faculty Advisory Council for the academic year.

Bruce Branson, professor of accounting, received official Quality Matters certification for his ACC 210 course on concepts in financial reporting.
On Aug. 4, Eileen Taylor, professor of accounting, presented on a panel for the American Accounting Association annual meeting. The presentation was titled “How to Bring Critical Thinking Across the Accounting Curriculum”. She is also a guest editor for an upcoming special issue of an American Accounting Association journal titled “Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice in Forensic Accounting” for the Journal of Forensic Accounting Research.
Beth Shepherd, director of instructional design, and Heidi Echols, instructional designer, presented as part of DELTA’s Summer Shorts in Instructional Technologies conference on “10 Ways to Improve Student Navigation in your Moodle Course” on Aug. 5.
On Aug. 19, Rob Handfield, professor of operations and supply chain management, spoke at the National Academies of Science and Engineering on the supply chain shortages as a result of the failure of the Public Health Emergency Medical Countermeasure Enterprise (PHEMCE).
