Poole College Recognizes Faculty and Staff Accomplishments from August
The monthly accomplishments series celebrates the achievements of our faculty and staff in and outside of the Poole College of Management.
- Patrick Flynn, assistant professor of human resource management, was invited to present at the Dean’s Council, a group that is run by the Provost and includes the dean from each college for a monthly meeting. Flynn and others shared insights from our research about facilitating important faculty outcomes.
- Jon Carr, professor of entrepreneurship, completed his term as program chair for the Entrepreneurship Division for the Academy of Management and is currently the division chair-elect for the upcoming year. At the annual meeting, Carr helped organize the first Entrepreneurship/Organizational Behavior Professional Development Workshop.
- Scott Showalter, professor of practice in accounting, made three presentations at the American Accounting Association annual meeting in San Diego: “Research Relevance: Conducting Research with a Broader Audience Mindset”, “Hints for Changing the Accounting Curriculum” and “10th Anniversary of Pathways Commission Report Release”.
- Joe Brazel, professor of accounting, was appointed to serve on the Research Team for the Auditing Standards Board of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ (AICPA) Fraud and Going Concern Task Forces.
- Patrice Nealon, senior lecturer in marketing, running for Wake County School Board to represent District 6.
- Rishika Rishika, associate professor of marketing, and Bill Rand, professor of marketing, served as co-chairs of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Track at the summer American Marketing Association meeting.
- In August, Sarah Khan, teaching associate professor in information technology (IT) and business analytics, received the 2022-23 DELTA Grants Faculty Fellows Award and presented “Hyflex Instruction: What Have We Learned So Far?” at the DELTA Summer Shorts.
- On August 1, Jessica Moran, assistant director for academic programs for the Jenkins MAC Program, presented at the American Accounting Association annual meeting on implementing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in accounting programs.
- Rob Handfield, professor of operations and supply chain management, presented at the SAS Supply Chain Novus Event in Cary on August 30 as well as the World Commerce and Contracting Association Webinar Series from August 17-19. Additionally, he released two books: Cognitive Procurement and FLOW: How the Best Supply Chains Thrive.
- Leigh Shamblin, director of leadership, was just named a Course Quality Faculty Lead with DELTA’S Course Improvement Program this fall. She is also working with the board of the North Carolina World Trade Association (NCWTA) Triangle Chapter.
