Poole College Recognizes Faculty and Staff Accomplishments from December and January

The monthly accomplishments series celebrates the achievements of our faculty and staff in and outside of the Poole College of Management.

December

• On Dec. 1, Beth Ritter, professor of practice in human resource management, spoke at the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) and the NC Department of Transportation (DOT) joint conference. She presented her research on knowledge continuity and the aging of the workforce. 
• Stacy Wood, professor of marketing, and Rob Handfield, professor of operations and supply chain management, presented “Creating a Renewed Vaccine Supply Chain” to the Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation on Dec. 1. 
• The Entrepreneurship Clinic was awarded the 2023 NC State Foundation Grant Award.
• Alongside a psychology doctoral student, Patrick Flynn, assistant professor of human resource management, attended an interdisciplinary collaboration and planning meeting that brought together scholars from across campus who are interested in the benefits of nature as a means of promoting collaborative research and enhancing the benefits of nature for students, faculty and staff at NC State.
• In partnership with Protiviti, the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Initiative published Executive Perspectives on Top Risks for 2023 and 2032 that highlights risk concerns on the minds of 1,304 global executives for their organizations. The report was co-authored by Bruce Branson, professor of accounting; Mark Beasley, professor of accounting; and Don Pagach, professor of accounting.
• On Dec. 11, Sherry Fowler, professor of practice in IT and business analytics, presented at the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) in Copenhagen, Denmark. She shared her research, “Big Tech’s Dark Side: Killer Apps, Abs, and Acqs”.

January

• Nathan Goldman, associate professor of accounting, has been elected to the editorial board for Contemporary Accounting Research. 
• Adriana Corredor-Waldron, assistant professor of economics, has been accepted to the Minnesota Population Center’s Population Scholars Program at the University of Minnesota. 
• Mark Beasley was one of the featured speakers on a Jan. 11 webinar hosted in partnership with Protiviti and the ERM Initiative highlighting calls for action to help business leaders address short-term and long-term risks. Over 1,700 participants joined the webinar. Beasley was also a featured speaker on a Jan. 24 webinar hosted by EY on the Integration of ERM and ESG. 
• On Jan. 25, Rob Handfield was a Preparing for Future Shocks: Modernizing Supply Chains Roundtable panelist at the IBM Center for The Business of Government in Washington D.C.
• Demetris Cheatham, lecturer, was named one of 14 business leaders who have become diversity trailblazers in corporate America by Insider Magazine.
