U.S. consumers and retail investors are under pressure as President Donald Trump’s tariffs fuel a global trade war that is tanking markets and threatening to drive up prices for everything from electronics and cars to sneakers and groceries. Rob Handfield, Poole professor of supply chain management, said he expects there will be a short window before shoppers will see the full extent of price hikes.
“If you have big purchases you need to make, you might want to think about shopping around to see if they have inventory that hasn’t been hit by tariff,” he said.
