Biosciences Management

Biosciences Management focuses on the emerging life sciences industry and its many challenges. This practical program brings together both the scientific and management sides of the business to better prepare you for a career or career advancement in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.

Overview

Biosciences industries are dynamic, complex and highly entrepreneurial. They require knowledge in diverse areas including leadership, ethics, innovation and entrepreneurship, and regulatory and budget management. Biosciences Management addresses these and other topics, such as market dynamics of pharmaceutical and biotechnology commerce.

Through project-based learning and an internship – required for full-time MBA students – you to apply what you learn in the classroom as you work on real projects for biosciences companies. Cross-functional teams include students from both the Jenkins Graduate School of Management and College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS), who may take biosciences as part of a dual concentration, and students from engineering and other technical disciplines across campus.

Most students who concentrate in BioSciences Management come from an academic life sciences background or have extensive work experience in the field.

The BioSciences Concentration focuses on providing business context for students with diverse backgrounds such as Biology or Technology. The program matches with real world issues for action learning through projects with local companies in industries such as Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Diagnostics, Nutrition, Agriculture etc.

Curriculum

This course of study will prepare students for managerial careers in finance, marketing, supply chain, or research and development functions, working in either established or start-up biotechnology or pharmaceutical firms.
