Full-time MBA Course Requirements

Core Courses

Core courses are organized into three blocks to maximize faculty collaboration and the application of foundational business concepts:

  • Finance and Markets
  • Analyzing the Value Chain
  • Managing the Organization

The core curriculum consists of 21 credit hours, which includes required 1-hour courses in Critical Thinking Career Preparation and Business Communication.

Concentration Requirement

Full-time MBA students are required to complete 12 hours of study in one of five concentration areas, which includes a required practicum course.

A list of the recommended courses is on the concentration pages. One-credit hour courses may not count toward the concentration requirement.

Experiential Learning

All students must complete a practicum course that addresses a real business challenge. Students complete the practicum course within their concentration area.

Analytical and Quantitative Skills Development

All students will complete at least one advanced 3-hour quantitative course to ensure Jenkins MBA graduates master a superior level of analytical skill.

A qualifying course may count toward both the concentration and the analytical requirements. A list of eligible courses is available in the MBA course descriptions document. Course options that meet this requirement are labeled with an *A.

Elective Courses

Full-time MBA students will select from a wide variety of elective courses to round out their Jenkins MBA education. Students will typically complete 23 credit hours of elective courses, providing both a depth of knowledge and a broad understanding of general strategic business management. Elective course day sections are available based on demand, resources, and evening section availability.

More elective course options information is available on the MBA Course Descriptions page and notated by E.*
