Upon graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2009, Richard commissioned into the U.S. Marine Corps as a Second Lieutenant. Designated as a Student Naval Aviator, he underwent two years of training in how to aviate, navigate, and communicate in multiple aircraft. Following a promotion to First Lieutenant, Richard was then designated as a Supply Officer. There, he led a platoon of Marines in requisitioning supplies and services for 2d Marine Division. The majority of his orders included repair parts for weapons systems, armored vehicles, surveillance assets, and communication equipment.
Following a promotion to Captain, Richard was assigned to Special Operations Command. He served as a primary planning representative and advised his commander on logistical operations in the U.S. and abroad. During his career, Richard deployed on five large-scale training exercises and one overseas tour to West Africa. He left the Marine Corps in 2017 to pursue his MBA at North Carolina State University and transition into the field of marketing. In 2018, he completed a business development internship with Siemens Healthineers where he assisted his team with education and care delivery pilots designed to support the changing needs of healthcare.
In his free time, Richard enjoys woodworking, triathlons, and spending time with his wife Victoria and two boys, Edward and Apollo
