Whitten, Shane

Program: Full Time MBA
Previous Education: B.A. Criminal Justice with a Minor in English, Norwich University, Military College of Vermont

Shane is a second-year MBA student concentrating in Supply Chain Management and pursuing several certificates, including Decision Analytics, Marketing, and SAP. He is a retired U.S. Army Civil Affairs Officer (with seven deployments between Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and South Korea) and a former analyst for the Pentagon Joint Staff located on Fort Bragg, with 18 years’ experience.

He is intrigued by the Procurement and Contracting segment of Supply Chain, how both direct and indirect procurement are vital functions that impact managing supplier & vendor relationships, and by which methods marketing armed with big data influence decisions in business.

Shane remains an active community member by volunteering to serve service members, families and veterans alike through the Military Order of the Purple Heart (where is both the Senior Vice Commander and Americanism Officer for his chapter, MOPH Bragg Chapter 2226) and Veterans of Foreign Wars (Joe Wagner VFW Post 7313).

He enjoys traveling, camping, and other outdoor activities with his family. The Whitten’s relocated to Chatham County so Shane could attend N.C. State’s Jenkins MBA Program. His wife, Katherine and youngest daughter remain in N.C., while their oldest daughter just started as 9th-grade freshman at boarding school in New Hampshire.
