The 2014 NBMBAA Conference Case Competition took place on September 17-19 in Atlanta, Georgia. The NC State Jenkins MBA entered a team comprised of two second-year students, Janelle Tracy and myself, and two first-year students, Lauren McGuire and Hugh Fisher. The team’s goal was to create a marketing plan for the upcoming 2015 Jeep Renegade.
After a hectic night of finalizing the presentation, we began the competition Wednesday morning with a tea breakfast, during which we were able to socialize with MBA candidates from across the country. After an address from Chrysler Group, LLC, the sponsor of the competition, there was a drawing to place teams in their competing rooms. NC State was drawn in room 1 against other competition including Case Western University, Georgia State University and MIT Sloan School of Business.
NC State delivered a strong presentation with a creative message and marketing strategy. Despite our best efforts, NC State was not selected as one of the seven finalists for the competition. Although we did not advance, the competition was a great experience for everyone involved and created an excellent opportunity showcase NC State’s talented students. The performance was strong enough to lead to interviews with Chrysler Group, LLC for select team members. With some strong experience among first-year students, NC State will build on this performance in future competitions and continue to demonstrate our Think and Do attitude!
