NC State Poole College Names First Citizens Bank 2018 Employer of the Year

The NC State University Poole College of Management has selected First Citizens Bank to receive the college’s Employer of the Year award for 2018. Frank B. Holding Jr., chairman and CEO of First Citizens Bank accepted the award as part of Poole College’s tenth annual Leadership and Innovation Showcase, held April 19, 2018, at historic Reynolds Coliseum on NC State’s campus.

“As a bank headquartered in Raleigh, First Citizens knows firsthand how much NC State University and the Poole College of Management mean to the employers and businesses of this community,” said Holding. “We’re proud to be a strong advocate for Poole College and to the support its scholarship and programs. It’s been a mutually beneficial partnership that has truly enhanced our bank. We’re extremely honored to accept this award, and look forward to continuing our strong relationship.”

Poole College established the Employer of the Year award in 2013 to recognize the extraordinary organizations that play a significant role in helping students across the college’s undergraduate and graduate programs launch and grow their careers. Past award recipients are Johnson Lambert, Patheon, Red Hat, Deloitte, Cisco, EY, Lowe’s and IBM.

First Citizens was selected through a competitive process based on the breadth, depth and longevity of its engagement with academic programs across the college and with the Poole College Career Center through a wide range of career and leadership development activities.

“First Citizens consistently supports our college, from participating in the Poole Career and Internship Fair to sponsoring MBA orientation to hiring students from across our programs,” said Annette L. Ranft, dean and Stephen P. Zelnak Chair at the Poole College of Management. “First Citizens employees are actively engaged with the college, volunteering to speak in classes and mentor students. We are truly grateful for the support First Citizens provides to Poole College and are pleased to recognize this world-class organization as our 2018 Employer of the Year.”

The awards ceremony also recognized student recipients of scholarship prizes ranging from $2,000-$5,000 for top scores in the college’s tenth annual Leadership and Innovation Showcase. More than 50 undergraduate and graduate student teams presented to industry executives and showcased the real world challenges, as well as their own entrepreneurial ventures, they tacked this academic year. Recruiters, corporate partners and NC State alumni are invited to attend the annual showcase and awards ceremony.
