Rob Handfield, distinguished professor of operations and supply chain management and executive director of the Supply Chain Resource Cooperative (SCRC), recently sat down with Tony Uphoff, founder and CEO of Thomas, for the Thomas Industry Update podcast. The two covered topics ranging from the impact of tariffs affecting industrial supply chain, what role manufacturing plays in the U.S. economy and how to manage shifting supply chain dynamics. “Manufacturing is core to the economy; it’s where value is created,” Handfield said. “Manufacturing is the core of what the U.S. was built upon, and it’s the core of what we do. I think we’re also seeing a shift [where] people are saying, ‘Well, manufacturing is all done overseas now.’ It’s not; that’s a misconception.” Read more on Thomas Net.
