Q: Why did you choose the NC State Jenkins MBA program for your graduate education?

I knew that I wanted to pursue a concentration in Corporate Finance and the strength of the course subjects, smaller class size, and opportunities to participate in practical learning appealed to me.  As someone pursuing a new career, the practical, hands-on aspect of the program was very important to me for my career development.

Q: What did you enjoy most about your time in the Jenkins MBA program?

I had the privilege to participate in the Blackstone Entrepreneurs Network Fellowship program, which fostered partnership with MBA students from other schools in the Triangle area and local entrepreneurs.  The Network introduced me to some very creative and innovative leaders and I gained insight into the hard work and risk-taking involved with creating your own business.

Q: What are a few of the most impactful classes/lessons you learned during your time at NC State?

Consumer Behavior was one of the most impactful classes during my time at NC State.  Although I concentrated in Finance, this course was highly recommended by other students.  The class was fascinating and introduced me to the subject of Behavior Economics. I also participated in a global learning class and traveled to Beijing, China for a week, which was a great cultural learning opportunity to go beyond the four walls of the classroom.

Q: What advice do you have for prospective Jenkins MBA students?

I would advise prospective MBA students to step outside of their comfort zone.   Take a Marketing elective even if it is not your concentration or participate in one of the global learning trips.  The MBA program provides so many opportunities for new experiences and challenges that will only help you in your career path.

Q: Could you give a brief explanation of your current line of work, and what has led you to it?

I currently work on the Supply Chain Finance team at HanesBrands.  Upon graduating from NC State, I joined HanesBrands in the Finance Rotation program and completed a rotation in the Supply Chain Finance group.  During that time, I learned about the intersection of Supply Chain Operations and Corporate Finance and enjoyed the rotation so much that I returned to the team after I completed the program.
