We promise to educate, prepare and celebrate with you on your career journey. We will educate you on life-long career management strategies that are aligned with your unique skill set and goals. We will prepare you very well as you shape and execute your strategy. We promise to work diligently to develop opportunities and connect you with the right business partners. And finally, we promise to celebrate the little and big victories along the way.
Pre MBA Career Preparation
Your MBA-level career preparation will begin prior to your arrival on campus. The first few months of your MBA will be intense, so the CMC has designed a summer assignment that will prepare you to launch an effective internship search. Components include pre-recorded interactive materials, self-assessments like CareerLeader and pre-MBA Bootcamps.
National Career Fairs
Each year, several major organizations host MBA career conferences. We encourage and prepare MBA students to attend at least one, such as the National Black MBA Association Conference or the National Society of Hispanic MBAs Conference, and we make a significant investment of time and resources to ensure that you have all the tools you need to be successful at this event. All MBA students are welcome to attend.
Virtual Resources and Tools
Interactive tools help us to educate and connect with you. The CMC maintains a library of high-quality pre-recorded materials covering topics such as how to maximize your internship experience. We also provide you with online research tools such as Career Insider by Vault and the NC State Libraries’ Databases. Finally, we maintain a career management database to house all information about internships, recruiting events and jobs.
The CMC puts the needs of our students first. In addition to 1:1 scheduled meetings, we host regular drop-in office hours for MBA students. During these sessions, topics of coaching range from personal branding to interview preparation to salary negotiation, ensuring you begin to build your ideal career.
Student Clubs and Organizations
The CMC works directly with the MBA Student Association leadership and sector-related clubs to plan events such as company tours, career treks, industry insights events and corporate panels.
Workshops and Webinars
Numerous face-to-face workshops as well as live online webinars to cover important topics such as best-in-class resume optimization, networking and interviewing are offered throughout the academic year.
Career Services for International Students
The CMC offers specialized services to support students faced with the work authorization and cultural adaptation challenges inherent in an international job search. We offer a number of resources to assist students in expanding awareness of the US job market and how to navigate it. Students receive access to best-in-class career databases as well as international career workshops from the beginning of our summer pre-orientation program through the end of our fall semester. Additionally, students have access to an in-house international careers expert who facilitates many of the workshops and provides 1:1 Career Advising. Learn more.
Engagement and Recruiting
In addition to individualized career coaching and live and online training and resources, the Jenkins MBA offers numerous opportunities to start and build relationships with potential employers. Ranging from social receptions to on-campus interviews, leading brands like Caterpillar, Cisco, Deloitte, and Lenovo will be on-hand and to meet Jenkins MBA talent.
