Teaching and Student Engagement

One of my favorite parts of teaching is helping students see how HR plays a vital role in shaping business strategy and culture. I regularly bring industry professionals into the classroom to simulate real-world HR challenges—like how to recognize essential employees during a pandemic when the workforce is split between remote and in-person work.

I’ve also been involved in immersive learning projects that show students how to build people-centered cultures and navigate complex interpersonal scenarios. From employee conflict resolution or responsible management to competency building, I aim to give students tools they can use to lead effectively. It’s incredibly rewarding to shift students’ perceptions of HR from paperwork and policy to strategic, people-focused work.

Industry and Academic Experience

Before joining the Poole College of Management, I served as the senior vice president of Human Resources at Burt’s Bees. I was part of the leadership team that sold the business to Clorox and stayed on to lead the integration efforts, with a strong commitment to preserving the culture that defines the brand.

Earlier in my career, I led HR initiatives for the global supply chain team at the Campbell Soup Company. My work also extended to their Food Services business and to developing strategies for occupational health, safety, and wellness. Before that, I worked in HR for Nabisco Brands Company, supporting beloved products like Planters Peanuts, Lifesavers Confections, Cream of Wheat, A-1 Steak Sauce, and Grey Poupon.

Why Poole College?

I was drawn to Poole College because of its commitment to combining practical experience with academic rigor. I value the opportunity to mentor students who lead in organizations where people strategy and business strategy go hand in hand. Poole’s dynamic learning environment supports exactly the kind of applied, collaborative teaching that inspires me.
